Tvorba Ilji Bílka vychází z výrazného osobního estetického vidění a širšího filozofického pohledu na vztah člověka k dnešnímu světu. V práci se sklem zachovává pozoruhodně konzistentní umělecké vnímání.
Od poloviny osmdesátých let si vytvářel osobitý výtvarný jazyk založený na kompozičních kvalitách prostorových segmentů roztaveného skla a skleněných tabulí. Médium skla ho přitahuje jako materiál optických kvalit, který v sobě spojuje potenciál sochařství i malířství. Přestože s ním pracuje již řadu let, nejvíce ho fascinuje, jak tento materiál dokáže formovat a zpětně ovlivňovat potenciál tvůrce. Práce se sklem vyžaduje racionální přístupy a disciplínu, ale také tvůrčí nadšení, které autor spojuje s vynikající řemeslnou zručností.
Ilja Bílek je výraznou tvůrčí osobností, jejíž ucelené koncepty přinášejí sklářskému umění neustálé obohacení a pokrok.

The creative output of glass artist Ilja Bílek emanates from a distinctive personal aesthetic vision and a broader philosophical view of mankind´s realitionship with the world today. In working with glass, he has maintained a remarkably consistent artistic perception.
Since the mid -1980s he has developed a distinct artistic language based on the compositional qualities of spatial segments of molten glass and glass panels. The medium of glass atracts him as an optical material, which combines the potentia l of both sculpture and painting. Despite the number of years he has worked with it, he is fascinated most by how this material is able to shape and retroactively influence the mental potential of the creator. To work with glass requires mental and manual rationality and discipline, but also creative enthusiasm , which he combines with excellent craftmanship.
Ilja Bílek is a distinctive creative personality, whose coherent concepts are able, without any attendant clamour, to bring constant enrichment and progress to glass art.
